Most everyone knows of
The Pink Panther
and they know that Henry Mancini wrote
The Pink Panther
Theme.
The Pink Panther
character was designed specificaly for the
main title of the motion picture
The Pink Panther
in 1963
by DePatie-Freleng, an animation studio in Los Angeles.
The Pink Panther
movie & character
were an immediate success
and very soon after, the first of many five to six minute
cartoons for theatrical release were ordered.
In 1969 those many theatrical cartoons
began being packaged for a childrens Saturday morning
television show titled .... you guessed it ....
THE PINK PANTHER SHOW
I had started writing for DePatie-Freleng shortly before
and had the good fortune to be assigned to write
a Main Title song and bridge & cue music
for that first
Pink Panther Show.
Over the next years I wrote all the
Main Title songs and bridge & cue music
for continuing
Pink Panther Shows
with different formats
and for many of the other five to six minute cartoons
of various other titles and with different characters
that would be included in the shows to give them variety.
There are links above to the original recording and vocal
used for that first
Pink Panther Show
which I sang.
There are also links to the Lyrics & the original Lead Sheet
of the song for those who might be interested
in that bit of memorabilia.
